Trisevgeni. A story and a song

At the beginning of the 20th century, Palamas’s Trisevgeni—”thoughtless, insubordinate, disobedient, daring”—clashes with the suffocating society of Missolonghi. She is a creature stubbornly defending her nature—which is to say, a tragic heroine. Three centuries back, yet almost as if standing right by her side, Chortatsis’s Erofyli—another tragic heroine—watches her narrate her story and accompanies her affectionately, commenting, interpreting, and empathizing. Crystalline, archetypal female figures, the roots and foundations of modern Greek theatre, emerging from the springs of the Cretan Renaissance and the poetic universe of Palamas, Trisevgeni and Erofyli meet on stage in a performance of word and music dedicated to female destiny and female power.
