TELOGLION FOUNDATION OF ARTS AUTHIn collaboration with the National Theatre of Greece, the Greek National Opera, and the Athens Concert Hall, the Teloglion Foundation presents the extraordinary and unique journey of painter, costume designer, and scenographer Yannis Metzikof, through a major collection of his costumes and paintings.
Yannis Metzikof graduated in 1980 from the Athens School of Fine Arts. He studied painting under Yannis Moralis, and scenography and costume design under Vassilis Vassiliadis. He has worked on numerous productions for the National Theatre of Greece, the National Theatre of Northern Greece (NTNG), the Cyprus Theatre Organisation (THOC), the Art Theatre (Theatro Technis), the Greek National Opera, and the Athens Concert Hall, among others, collaborating with prominent directors such as Cacoyannis, Volanakis, Drese, Bakas, Voutsinas, Koundouros, Evangelatos, and Kartaloff.
His collaborations with distinguished choreographers, including Nikoloudi and Papaioannou, remain monumental. Metzikof has been teaching for consecutive years at the Drama School of the National Theatre of Greece, as well as the drama schools of Giorgos Theodosiadis, Iasmos, and Anoikti Techni. In 2010, the National Gallery of Greece presented the entirety of his visual arts work for the theatre. The exhibition was later showcased in his birthplace, Chania, and concluded its journey at Covent Garden in London in 2011.
