MOUNT ATHOS CENTER, 109 EGNATIA STR.Mount Athos served as a place of mystical inner fermentation for Nikos Gavriil Pentzikis, who visited it 94 times between 1933 and 1992. His interaction with the Athonite fathers formed a constant axis of his reflection and nourished his work.
At the center of the exhibition is his Notebook from his visit in the summer of 1952, featuring drawings and notes that reveal this process: names of monks and saints, miracles, frescoes, and elements of Athonite flora and fauna coexist within its densely written pages.
Alongside the Notebook, the exhibition includes paintings with Athonite and ecclesiastical themes that trace the artist’s evolutionary path, archival material from the Pentzikis Pharmacy, and documentation from his second solo painting exhibition (December 1952), where works inspired by this specific visit were presented.
