The Fox by Andreas Klavdianos and Kritamos by Sampson Almasidis and Giorgos Moukriotis in Toumba, Mostra by Anastasia Beka in Charilaou, Koronis by Sofia and Efthymis Karanikas, Giorgos Nikolakakis, Efthymis Kalfas, and Giannis Hatziioannidis in Sofouli, and Soumaki by Giorgos Papounidis in Ampelokipoi are clear proof that Thessaloniki’s gastronomy is not confined to the well-established spots in the city center. In the neighborhoods, alongside traditional hangouts, a new generation of chefs and entrepreneurs has successfully decentralized the scene, demonstrating daily that the city’s flavors know no boundaries and are spreading beyond the center! All the aforementioned will talk about the risk of stepping away from the safety of the center and investing in the neighborhoods, each of which has its codes and unique values. The event will be presented and moderated by Kostas Giantsios, a journalist specializing in food from Biscotto.gr. Delicacies and dishes will be cooked and served live under the supervision of the La Chef Levi school.

The Zaman Food Stories series is a journey into what we call the special, unique, and unsurpassed flavors of Thessaloniki: from the dishes and stories of the Byzantine past to today’s cosmopolitan couvert, with the city now a gastronomic destination; from Jewish cookbooks and Armenian and refugee dishes of the past to the international menus of World War I, when other global cuisines arrived and enriched the existing flavors of Thessaloniki.
Get ready for five delicious, educational, and rich literary gourmet afternoons, where renowned chefs, foodie journalists, bloggers, restaurateurs, and experts in everything related to the city’s gastronomy will present a variety of stories centered on Thessaloniki.
