YPSILON, UPPER LADADIKAA Few Words About the Novel: This is the story of “Our Own Children,” the children who grew up locked in their rooms. They listen to music with headphones, compose beats on their computers, and write lyrics in their notebooks. Their families are their friends, and they live their lives online. This is the story of our generation, a generation of people who believed that would be better than their parents. Now we see our children growing up, making their mistakes, and moving ahead. Voices and howls in the stadium. Blood on the sidewalks. Secret social media accounts. Classmates who bite like vipers in schoolyards. Girls doing boyish things. Mothers who worry. Mothers who give up. Mothers who have the nerve. Fathers who become mothers in tough times and fathers who don’t act like fathers. Two generations—separated by a chasm. Will the moment come when they will reach out to each other? This is a story about what we know and what we will never know. Each generation believes it is protecting its children, but if we listen to the story from the other side, we’ll see that children also protect their parents from what they will never- thankfully- suspect. This is a story about a rap band, dreams seeking revenge, and the children saved by music.
