HISTORICAL COMPLEX OF DEPOT BUILDINGSUniting the past and the future of Thessaloniki, Parallaxi celebrates its 35 years with the show 2310 hosted in the program of the 59th Dimitria Festival. We are found one hour before a world-changing event that will alter the course of the city. On the way to the countdown, a well-known radio show is broadcast one hour before midnight, hosting the most vibrant and creative scene in Thessaloniki today, which is none other than the explosive rap and hip-hop scene. Simultaneously with a brief historical flashback to the city’s downward trajectory over the past 30 years, viewers and protagonists will be confronted with events and moments that will adequately explain its /our collective trauma. Conversing in the form of a live talk with the representatives of the rap scene who will unfold the present, explaining through their own need to express and create the dystopian condition of a city that had the potential to take off but… it did not, the show 2310 moves to the rhythms and artistic condition of the Documento theater: the polaroid of a moment through confessions, conversation and assumptions, expressed with a sense of humor but also brutal honesty. Everything will take place in the historical complex of the listed Depot buildings, a former depot for the dismantled trams of Thessaloniki, the enviable architectural ensemble of Pietro Arrigoni, which will be opened for the first time in decades to the public and the needs of the show. This natural setting will become the ideal place to tell the story of Thessaloniki’s past and present. Tune in to the 2310 theatrical show, which will end at exactly midnight, when the city… no spoiler!
