The first song in Maria Farantouri’s discography is “Matomeno Feggari”, with lyrics by Nikos Gatsos and music by Mikis Theodorakis, followed by three more sings by the two creators in 1965. Later, Maria Farantouri interpreted the poet’s words with music by Manos Hatzidakis in three works: Ta Paraloga, where the song “Efialtis tis Persefonis” became the singer’s modern identity, Skoteini mitera and Amorgos. Manolis Mitsias began his collaboration with Nikos Gatsos in 1969 with the famous song “M’ena parapono” with music by Dimos Moutsis. Subsequently, Gatsos wrote many more songs that Manolis Mitsias first performed, with music by Dimos Moutsis or Loukianos Kilaidonis, but primarily with music by Manos Hatzidakis on albums such as Tis Gis To Chrysafi, Athanasia, where the song “Giannis o fonias” is strongly associated with the performer, and Cheimoniatikos Ilios.

Including “To tragoudi tou paliou kairou”, with music by Ilias Andrianopoulos and the oratorio Meres Epitafiou, with music by Dimitris Papadimitriou, Mitsias has performed over eighty songs with lyrics by Gatsos, earning the title of the primary performer of Gatsos’ work.
